Cuarón On PoA Getting "Darker":
Catch the latest news on the production and release of PoA in our Movie archives!
As reported on The Hollywood Reporter:
"I don't know if 'dark' is the word for it because there's a great deal of humor (in the third tale)," Cuarón says. "I would say that rather than going into darker territory, it goes into more emotional territory. Because the characters are a little bit more grown up, the experience is completely different. In the first two books, the fear was outside, like a boogie man. But here, the fear comes from inside. When you're 13, you stop believing in the boogie man and start dealing with the monsters inside."
And even though Cuarón is taking over from director Chris Columbus, who helmed the first two features, he's confident that the series' young cast members -- chief among them, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint -- won't shrink from him as if he were the evil stepdad replacing the father figure who guided them through the first two films.
Things To Look Forward To:
- The Dementors make their appearance!
- The Knight Bus
- The first Hogsmeade weekend!
- Michael Gambon as the new Dumbledore
- Sirius Black!
- Professor Lupin
- Director Alfonso Cuarón's version of the novel.
